I didn’t always want to be a psychotherapist. Entering college, I questioned how I would spend the rest of my life – what I wanted to be when I “grew up.” After graduating with a degree in business administration, there I stood, grown up, but still questioning. Soon after, I applied to the Americorps Vista program where I became a Counselor Aid working in the world of substance abuse and residential care. That invaluable experience led me to pursue my degree in Clinical Social Work, and spend the next 17 years working with individuals, families, groups, and military members in our community to better understand mental health, and help those suffering from symptoms of depression, anxiety, psychophysiological concerns, and other co-occurring conditions.
Following obtaining my Master of Social Work from Syracuse University, I have served as a Counselor and Case Manager at Helio Health, Program Director with Forensic Consultants Limited, ASAP Counselor with the US Department of Defense, and Program Manager with the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. I am also an active member of the New York State Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, as well as a member of the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association.
