Life can be difficult to navigate and there's no user manual. Let’s get to the bottom of why you suffer, although you keep trying. I specialize in working with the grit in academia, compassion fatigue for health care professionals and teachers, and the emergencies within law enforcement, crisis, and military professionals. Yes, you too, as I work with many people.
There is hope to replace critical thoughts, self-doubt, worry, apathy, detachment, isolation, and anxiety, increasing confidence and connectivity. We will build your capacity to feel your difficult emotions that are meant to guide you through life. Would you like to free yourself, and get to know yourself better?
Let's unearth your true-self, reveal the bedrock you’re made from that's already there, hidden behind the wall, or false smile. Who, what, and why…guides you? You may not know, so let's find out together.
As you connect your heart, mind, and body, your true self will learn to be you-remembering who you are, who you’ve always been. Ready to walk this journey?
We will walk together helping you to intuitively know the answers, less doubting yourself. Less doodling at meetings and blanking out at family events. Less taking anger out on yourself. The AirPods at the grocery store...those too, out. Restructure, Repair, Transform...holistically. Advance trained using Intensive Short-term Dynamic psychotherapy(ISTDP) if you request this type of therapy.
How your brain is working during our sessions is crucial. Our work together will be both difficult and rewarding. My therapy style (ISTDP) is drawn from many concepts and theories to form a hypothesis for how to help you heal.
I regard neuroscience to be an integral component of that process. This can be short or long term depending on many factors, which we will discuss in treatment.
When a person is under constant stress, cortisol levels can rise dramatically. This affects parts of the brain and can send incorrect messages about safety, which in turn cause suffering in life. Neurons that fire together, wire together.
This happens without you knowing it. This is your brain’s lifelong capacity to adapt to your relational environment. Our hope is to make new meaning that aligns with the reality and not live in a false world that was created by trauma.
Restructure, Repair, Transform...holistically. Yoga/Ayurveda trained and inspired, movement and nature enthusiast!
Therapy together may remind you of when you played a favorite sport or instrument:
These are some examples of what our therapy will be like together. Your brain will be online as memory navigates our course; coordination and attitude will determine our outcome. There's lots of you on board, and lots of me witnessing your path to healing.
Imagine this type of freedom in your mind and body: free from high anxiety, free from critical thoughts and self doubt or constant rumination...revealing your true self.
I have been in a counseling/case worker role for over 20 years. I started out working with people who were homeless and addicted to some type of substance/alcohol, anything to numb or escape their pain.
I ran groups for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it, mostly centered in CBT/REBT models. I loved what I did and I worked with fascinating people. Yet, I didn’t always want to be a counselor or psychotherapist. Entering college, I questioned how I would spend the rest of my life – what I wanted to be when I “grew up.”
After graduating with a degree in business administration, there I stood, grown up, but still questioning. Soon after, I applied to the Americorps Vista program where I became a Counselor Aid working in the world of substance use problems in residential care.
That invaluable experience led me to pursue my degree in Clinical Social Work, and spend my passion on working with individuals, families, groups, and military members in our community, to better understand mental health, and help those suffering from symptoms of depression, anxiety, psychophysiological concerns, and other co-occurring conditions.
I am a Yogini and a Christian! I align my practice in many spiritual philosophies including nature, music, movement, including eastern and western philosophies. Our journey together will be whatever you choose to believe and practice. Let’s navigate it together!
I hoped that all the experiences I had in my work life coupled with my winding-spiritual path, would help guide my work to offer services in the private sector.
I opened my private practice for therapy services in 2016. I have served in my community as a Counselor, Case Manager, and Therapist at Helio Health.
Moving toward the impaired driving sector, and conducting evaluations as the Program Director with Forensic Consultant Limited, while also running groups, I was finding myself interested in helping and working with the soldiers and officers at the ASAP Clinic as a Counselor with the federal government.
I then decided to enter the state government sector as a Program Manager with the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports, and a Program Specialist with NYS Office of Mental Health.
Although I have worked in many capacities and worked in Private Practice part-time, I decided that Full-time Private Practice is ultimately where I love and live best.
