You’re successful and struggle emotionally it’s ok
Are you hoping to restructure how you think Would you like to repair your relationships?
Do you know that you can transform your mind, body, spirit, and heart?
Psychodynamic therapy can free you from anxiety, worry, and collapse. Read more below.
As an ISTDP advance-trained therapist, I use my eyes and ears to watch how your system moves feelings viscerally through your body, in order to help you heal. This psychodynamic therapy is well researched for exceptional outcome measures, and recognized as evidenced based treatment, by the National Library of Medicine, 2014, coupled with a 2020 research paper from, The American Journal of Psychotherapy. There are so many documented peer reviewed studies for somatic and depressive problems, that therapists and doctors have found that this therapy has efficacy better than treatment as usual with medications, for some people, some of the time. It's a large claim, therefore, to be taken lightly, and individualized with a therapist and medical professional.
How does therapy work with ISTDP?
I assess how anxiety manifests throughout your system as a protective barrier to push down those difficult, complex feelings that are so hard to feel and process, from attachment ruptures in your youth. Somatic psychotherapy watches the body and how you viscerally experience situations and people.
Heart to heart, head to head, and spirit to spirit...moment to moment tracking.
We will actively see what protective defenses have turned harmful in your life, such as critical thoughts, self-harm, devaluation, self-doubt, rumination, helplessness, detachment, and more.
Mindfulness will be at a peak as I collaborate with you in a very active stance, as we get to the bottom of your reasons for suffering. I weave in trauma training to help ascertain how you are ready for this work and the pace we may want to go, and ask you as the expert, to monitor our work together for improvement measurements.
Let’s build your capacity to feel more and think clearly, without the avoidance behaviors that decrease your confidence in life. This is Intensive therapy for quicker changes, and is dependent on our relationship together, so it may time longer, as well.
Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISDTP), originally developed by Habib Davanloo, M.D., is a scientifically validated method of psychotherapy which dramatically accelerates the therapy, so that patients see a deep and meaningful change, often quickly.
There is substantial evidence supporting ISTDP as an effective and cost-saving treatment for a broad range of psychiatric disorders, including Anxiety, Depression, interpersonal difficulties, and many chronic medical conditions.

I completed the Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy(ISTDP) Core Certification group, 2017-2020 with Jon Frederickson, MSW. I am listed on the ISTDP Institute and the IEDTA directories.
I have Advanced ISTDP training with Jon Frederickson, MSW, and with Patricia Coughlin, PhD. I had individual supervision with Patricia Coughlin for 2 years, and have had other trainings by Allan Abbass, MD., Steve Shapiro, PhD, Angela Cooper, PhD., Washington School of Psychiatry, and other group and individual ISTDP case consultations with Peers. I am currently in monthly training with Allan Abbass, MD., for continued practice expertise.
I follow some outcome deliberate practice type methods, as well. I weave in spirituality/faith, and assess for what a person needs. I was also part of the IEDTA 2019 Conference planning and very involved with the Experiential Dynamic Therapy(EDT) community.
I stay true to an ISTP model for the most part, yet I am a fluid practitioner working with people, and people come first before methods. Therefore, I use all my dynamic skills that also compliment ISTDP.
Please know that we start with me knowing little information about you, so we can experience our meeting together, with no preconceived ideas. Often, phone calls or a consult, can hinder the first therapy session. I often find that these pone calls and many questions asked during them, are actually therapeutic in nature and belong in the therapy room, where we can honor it with our time together.
I’m using experiential, psychodynamic therapy working from an attachment and mindful cognitive perspective, concentrating on somatic issues, as well. We look at your integrated system and see how it all functions to keep you operating as you are.
It often looks like the following:
You mirrored your heroes' and inspirations' style and movements while
people in your environment impacted your success as you played your sport.
Your abdominal breathing helped your rhythm and improved your stamina as you regulated for endurance, as you experienced awareness and connectivity as you were seen and supported in your pain and glory.
These are some examples of what our therapy will be like together. Your brain will be online as memory navigates our course; coordination and attitude will determine our outcome. There's lots of you on board, and lots of me witnessing your path to healing.
Imagine this type of freedom in your mind and body: Free from high anxiety, free from critical thoughts and self doubt or constant rumination...revealing your true self.
Initial Inquiry Session:
$475/2.5 hours
Individual Session:
$275/60 minutes
We will have 2.5 hours to see the problem you have, how it makes you suffer, and if you want to do something about it. We will have an experience together, as this is a psychodynamic approach.
At the end of session we will determine if ISTDP is the method to follow and I ask for the next six weekly session commitment to provide changes. Most often, significant relief is found in the first session. ISTDP therapy works well for many people, yet not all.
I have a graded approach when the standard method is contraindicated. If you are ready to take charge of your mental health and live with meaning, then reach out if you're ready to start your journey with me.
